Start planning your holiday fun now by registering to run or walk in the third annual Nexton Cocoa Cup 5K on Saturday, December 17. Runners and walkers are invited to race the "fastest 5K course in greater Charleston" through Summerville's Nexton community“ complete with post-race fun for all featuring DJ Natty Heavy.
Families who register in advance, can enjoy the free, one-mile kids/family fun run starting at 9:00 a.m. Runners and walkers of all levels can compete in the certified 5K starting at 9:30 a.m. The top five overall finishers and the top three winners in each age/gender group will medal.
The post-race party will be full of fun and treats from local vendors. All participants will receive a signature mug to enjoy hot cocoa after the race.
Post race, head to Carolina Ale House for the official "after-party" featuring food specials and drink specials.
Sponsors include Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Home Telecom and SCE&G and CPM Federal Credit Union.
Register at nexton.com/cocoacup to receive early bird pricing of $30. Pricing will increase to $35 on October 1. Each registered participant will receive a Nike hoodie and other goodies.
Registrants can pick up race bib and sweatshirt at Fleet Feet's Mount Pleasant store on December 15 or Fleet Feet's Summerville store on December 16 from 10 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Day-of registration pick-up begins at 7:00 a.m. at Brown Family Park in Summerville.
Proceeds of the race will benefit the Summerville Family YMCA, LiveStrong and Girls with Sole.
