Mindfulness is a contemplative practice that quiets the mind in order to cultivate a personal capacity for deep concentration and insight in the face of the many distractions of everyday life. It is often defined as the awareness that arises by paying attention on purpose in the present moment non-judgmentally. This workshop will introduce a series of secular mindfulness practices, including some that have been developed specifically for the workplace.
A leader of mindfulness practice, founder of Contemplative Mind in Society, and co-author with Ram Dass of Compassion in Action, Mirabai Bush will introduce a series of secular mindfulness practices for a happier life and more fulfilling work. You will be using the resources and wisdom of your own body and mind, followed by discussions on life and work based on the values and perspectives embodied in the practices. We will explore mindfulness, compassion, and loving kindness practices with time for Q&A and discussion, as well as an overview of ways mindfulness is being introduced into many sectors of American life and contributing to a more just, inclusive and sustainable society.
