The CSO caps its celebratory 80th season with a tribute to two composers' responses to revolution, freedom and individuality. Hailed by conductors, musicians and audiences alike as a transformative experience, Mahler's gigantic Symphony No. 5 is regarded as the ultimate test of the experience and breadth of an orchestra. Pianist and Charleston native Micah McLaurin joins the CSO for a performance of Mozart's Concerto for Piano No. 20, the great composer's most popular concerto with rich orchestration, stormy outbursts and turbulent contrasts.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Piano Concerto in D minor, K. 466
