Join the action as the rare Marsh Tacky “ South Carolina's State Heritage Horse“ races the beaches of Kiawah for the first time. On Saturday, Oct. 29, the Kiawah Cares Foundation (KCF) will host the inaugural Kiawah Cup Island Beach Race in partnership with the Carolina Marsh Tacky Association (CMTA).
Four ticket options let you tailor your experience. Gates open at 11:45 for VIP ticket holders to attend the pre-race VIP Horsinâ€™ Around Cocktail Hour from 12 - 1 p.m. (limit 120 tickets), overlooking the race field.
Gates open at noon for all other ticket holders (limit 100 tickets in each of three sections). Opening ceremonies kick-off on the beach in front of the Sandcastle Community Center at 1:15 p.m. The highly competitive, fast-paced races will feature Marsh Tacky owners from all over the Carolinas, in several heats, all vying to take home the cup.

Marsh Tacky horses are a resilient, unique and rare breed with a deep history in the Lowcountry. Now attendees will get a chance to meet two of these rare horses!
Our featured mares, Molly and her daughter Mariah, will certainly win everyone's hearts at the Meet the Mares event. Molly is an honorary member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a former beach race winner.
