Independence Day at Middleton

Middleton Place will be celebrating Independence Day Weekend, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. all 3 days.

The public is encouraged to come hear the Declaration of Independence read aloud, just like in 1776 in Philadelphia and around the 13 original states. Arthur Middleton was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Additionally, many participatory Revolutionary War-era games and other events will be featured both days, to help young visitors understand their similarities and differences with boys and girls of the colonial era.

Some favorite activities will include:
Meeting a Revolutionary Soldier to learn about what life in the field was like during the American Revolution;
Participating in a Hands On Military Drill;
Family Activity Tent featuring writing with a Quill pen, making a tri-cornered hat, playing games of yesteryear, and enjoying light refreshments including lemonade and watermelon.
All events are covered with General Admission. For more info, go to: www.MiddletonPlace.org.

Arthur Middleton was one of the youngest signers of the Declaration of Independence and a committed American patriot. He was imprisoned by the British for the last part of the Revolutionary War. Come out and celebrate the country he helped bring about in Philadelphia 239 years ago!
