Home School History Days with the Charleston Museum

Dates:

November 20: Colonial Charleston at the Heyward - Washington House (87 Church Street)
It’s 1781 and the British have control of the city. Mrs. Heyward will show you through her home and tell you of her daily routine and the struggles under British occupancy.

December 18: The Bountiful Coast
Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting Street
Learn how food has been acquired, prepared, stored, and served by the different groups of people that call the Lowcountry home. The program will discuss food ways of Native American, African-Americas, and early English settlers. Students will examine pictures from our archives of street vendors and the Old Market, as well as handle artifacts from archaeological digs.

January 15: Maps
Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting Street
Learn mapping skills by exploring maps from the Museum’s archive collection. The third Friday of every month we offer a special program for home schooling families.

The third Friday of every month we offer a special program for home schooling families. These programs feature one of our field trip classes, a chance to go through the Museum, and an activity.
