New Year's Eve—a time for celebration and merriment in style! The Gaillard Center will serve as a grand backdrop for an elegant black-tie Viennese New Year's Eve. First join the CSO for a mesmerizing performance, opening with Richard Strauss’ Don Juan. The program will continue by featuring internationally-acclaimed mezzo-soprano MaryAnn McCormick of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She will sing Strauss’ Morgen, Zueignung and the final scene from Der Rosenkavalier, as well as Gustav Mahler’s quintet of songs, Rückert Lieder. CSO Music Director Ken Lam will conduct the concert, which also features soprano Amanda Hall.
After the performance, guests will convene in the Grand Ballroom of the Gaillard Center for a traditional ball in vintage Viennese style. Guests will have an open bar and be served a dinner with an Austrian twist that is specially crafted by Duvall Catering, the Gaillard Center’s partner for catered events. During the dinner, the CSO will perform many of Johann Strauss’ most popular waltzes and polkas.
