6 Crave-Worthy Southern Crafted Cocktails

From infused waters and mocktails to lovely libations, when it comes summer soirées in Charleston, refreshing beverages are a must. We are teaming up with the connoisseurs of craft cocktails at Squeeze Cocktail and Beverage Catering and getting the skinny on how to put southern summer spins on some of the classics. No matter if you are planning your Big Day or hosting a backyard BBQ bash, these can’t-miss cocktails will be a surefire hit with your guests.

The Blueberry-Mint Market Julep:

2 oz Bourbon
2 oz Blueberry-mint reduction
Large mint sprig garnish
Blueberry garnish
Fill a julep cup with crushed ice. Combine all ingredients in cup. Garnish with mint sprig and blueberries.

Charleston Wedding Guide

Unencumbered Cooler:

1.5 oz Hendricks gin
3 Basil leaves
2 chunks cucumber (1/2 inch)
1/2 oz lime juice
1 oz organic tonic water
1 dash celery bitters
Muddle cucumber & basil. Add other ingredients except for tonic and bitters. Shake well. Line the sides of the rocks glass with the thin cucumber slices. Add ice and strain shaken cocktails over ice. Top with tonic water & add a dash of celery bitters. Garnish with a sprig of basil.

 

Mai Tai the Knot:

1 oz Gosling Rum
1/2 oz orgeat
2 pineapple chucks
1 oz pineapple juice
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz ginger lemongrass syrup
dark rum float
2 brandied cherries
Add all ingredients to shaker except dark rum. Shake well & strain over rocks. Garnish with a cherry and pineapple chunk on a pick and pineapple leaf.

The Southern Mule:

2 oz Tito’s Vodka
3 oz Ginger beer
1 oz Local strawberry puree
1/2 oz Fresh lime juice
Lime peel garnish
Fill a copper mug or glass with crushed ice. Combine all ingredients in glass. Garnish with lime peel.

The Ginger Fizz:

2 oz Plymouth gin
1 oz Club soda
1 oz Lemon juice
1 oz Ginger simple syrup
1 Egg white (1/2 oz)
Orange peel garnish
Shake the gin, lemon and lime juices, simple syrup, egg white, and bitters with ice. Strain and serve in a highball glass with two ice cubes. Fill glass with club soda. Garnish with an orange peel.

The Rhubarb-Strawberry Daiquiri:

2 oz White run/Cachaca
1 oz Local strawberry puree
1/2 oz Fresh lime juice
1/4 oz Simple syrup
Strawberry slice garnish
Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker and shake to chill. Strain into a chilled martini glass or coupe glass of your choice. Garnish with a strawberry slice.
